What is the legal age for ... ?

Legal Ages

In our group we were interested in knowing the legal ages to do things in different fields. So we asked the students in our class what they thought, and then we checked on the internet and with our e-pals.

Generally, we, French students think, that in the United States, the legal age for

Driving is 15 or 16

Smoking

13 to 20
Drinking Alcohol 21
Carrying Weapons 18 or 21
Getting Married 16 to 21
Having a Sexual Relationship 10 to 18
Being Sentenced to prison 10 to 16
Leaving School 16
Coming of age 16 to 21
Working 15 or 16

Actually in France the legal age for

Driving is 18
Smoking 16
Drinking Alcohol 18
Carrying Weapons Never
Getting Married 16
Having a Sexual Relationship 15
Criminality 13
Leaving School 16
Coming of age 18
Working 16

 

Actually in the United States the legal age for

Driving is 16
Smoking 18
Drinking Alcohol 21
Carrying Weapons 21
Getting Married 17
Having a Sexual Relationship 16
Being sentenced to prison 12
Leaving School 16
Coming of Age 21
Working 21

So we can see, that the legal ages are very different in France and in the United States.
