The History of The Capitole Square

This place is the heart of the city of Toulouse and of the Haute - Garonne.

It is the emblem of the city and it has been the place of local power for more than eight centuries, called the 'Common home' in the past.

The Capitouls decided to build the Capitole in 1190. It's considered as Jupiter's temple.

Inside the Capitole, there is the town hall and a theatre.

It was and it is still situated at the limit of Rue du Taur. The Capitole is encircled by the Rue Lafayette, the Rue Alsace-Lorraine and the Rue du Poids de l'Huile.
