Nearly 4 million visitors have visited it in 13 yearsof existence, why not you?

History

The “Cité de l'espace” is a theme park on space science and space exploration, which is located in Toulouse.

Opened on June 27, 1997 by Dominique Baudis (deputy mayor of Toulouse) and Claudie Haigneré (sponsor of the park). In July 1998, the park opens "Station Mir" and the Terr@dome. In April 2005 the new planetarium and IMAX open their doors. In May 2006, a base for children is created: “La base des enfants”. For the 10 years of the Park, in 2007, an open house is organized with many activities and fireworks. More than 20,000 people are here. In 2010 a project " Spatioport " is conducted with equipment to better simulate the sensations and experiences during space flight.

Indoor activities

In the “cité de l'espace” a lot of activities take place inside the buildings, such as exhibitions on the solar system, or how to live in space. You can watch movies projected on a giant screen. These films were shot in space ! An activity not to miss is the planetarium ! It is oriented with its shelf at 360 degree, nothing better to observe the stars and the solar system. And the stellarium ! With its simulator, strong feelings guaranteed !

Outdoor activities

Planet Border is an activity in the park of the “cité de l’espace” to know if you could recognize all the planets in the solar system. It’s an activity for children and their parents. When you go out, you walk on a park called “Avenue de l’infini” where you can learn the size of the universe by gradually covering the distance that separates you from the known limits of space. The objects promenade allows you to discover space objects and machines in life-size. With the sunshine street, you can rediscover the sun : rainbows, the sheperd’s timepiece, sundials...

For the others activities, the space city proposes a children's base. Here, the children can play, build a rocket an take control of the spacecraft... In the stellarium, short planetarium shows are suitable for small children. There's too a little astronaut's square where the children can train like adults on a rocket-slide.
