How the Snake got its Bifid Tongue

Once upon a time , a two headed lizard lived in Australia , his name was Chobion.

On a day of dryness , he could only eat the eggs of other lizards . That's the moment  when, Naturos , Nature's god , appeared and punished Chobion , took his legs so that Chobion became a snake with two heads. But , very  quicky , the two heads were in conflict and they wanted to live alone each one in peace .

One day , while a terrible storm was devastating everything around, Chobion hurried to help the other lizards eggs , so Chobion put the eggs in a hole. When the storm was over , the mother of the eggs thanked Chobion and Naturos appeared to reward him for his good deed ; so he granted him a wish. Chobion decided to have one head only.

Then , the two heads merged to make only one. But Naturos forgot to merge the two tongues!

That's how the bifid tongue of snakes was born.

The moral of this story is : «We are always rewarded when we make a good deed , but mistakes from the past can't be forgotten.».
